ILUBE contains the active substance acetylcysteine. ILUBE is a solution that acts as an artificial tear. It is used to provide relief for dry eyes conditions which are associated with a lack of tears or abnormal tear production. ILUBE works by reducing the stickiness of tears and lubricating dry eyes to relieve discomfort. 2.

Do not use ILUBE if you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6). Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using ILUBE. ILUBE contains the preservative benzalkonium chloride, which can discolour soft contact lenses. Stop using ILUBE if discomfort, increased reddening or irritation occurs and persists. Children This product should not be used on children. Pregnancy and breast-feeding If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, talk to your doctor or pharmacist for advice before you use this medicine. Driving and using machines Your vision may be blurred after using ILUBE. Do not drive or use any machines unless your vision is clear. 1
Other medicines and ILUBE Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. ILUBE contains the preservative benzalkonium chloride This medicine contains 0.1 mg benzalkonium chloride in each ml of solution. Benzalkonium chloride may be absorbed by soft contact lenses and may change the colour of the contact lenses. You should remove contact lenses before using this medicine and put them back 15 minutes afterwards. Benzalkonium chloride may also cause eye irritation, especially if you have dry eyes or disorders of the cornea (the clear layer at the front of the eye). If you feel abnormal eye sensation, stinging or pain in the eye after using this medicine, talk to your doctor. 3.
How to use ILUBE
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye 3 or 4 times daily or as advised by your doctor.

If a drop misses your eye, try again. If you use more ILUBE than you should Close your eyes and rinse off any excess ILUBE with warm water. If you forget to use ILUBE Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Use it as soon as you remember.

If the contents of the bottle are swallowed Tell your doctor or the casualty department of a hospital immediately. If you have any further questions on the use of ILUBE, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
You may experience some or all of the following effects in your eye(s): Itching, redness, irritation.
If any of the side effects get serious, or you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist. Reporting of side effects If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. ILUBE
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle label and the carton after 'EXP'. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not store above 25°C. Keep the bottle in the outer carton in order to protect from light. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Shelf life after first opening: 28 days.
Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment. 6.
What ILUBE contains The active substance is acetylcysteine 50 mg/ml (5 % w/v). The other ingredients are hypromellose, disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, sodium hydroxide and purified water. What ILUBE looks like and contents of the pack ILUBE is a clear, colourless liquid supplied in a 10 ml amber glass bottle. The carton also contains a white plastic dropper with a screw cap packed separately.

ILUBE Eye Drops are artificial tears with mucolytic and lubricant properties, suitable for the relief of dry eye syndromes associated with deficient tear secretion, impaired or abnormal mucus production.
Posology
The usual dose is 1 or 2 drops instilled into the affected eye(s) 3 or 4 times daily.
Paediatric population
No data are available.
Method of administration
ILUBE Eye Drops are administered by topical instillation into the conjunctival sac.
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1.
ILUBE Eye Drops contain benzalkonium chloride which may cause eye irritation or discolour soft contact lenses. Avoid contact with soft contact lenses. Patients should be instructed to remove contact lenses prior to application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Benzalkonium chloride has been reported to cause eye irritation, symptoms of dry eyes and may affect the tear film and corneal surface. Should be used with caution in dry eye patients and in patients where the cornea may be compromised. Patients should be monitored in case of prolonged use.
No interaction studies have been performed.
Medical advice must be sought before taking ILUBE Eye Drops with any medication, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
This product should not be taken if the patient is pregnant, might get pregnant, or is breast-feeding without seeking medical advice.
Patients must be advised that their vision may be blurred after using Ilube Eye Drops and must not drive or use any machines, unless their vision is clear.
Patient may experience itching, redness and/ or irritation in their eye(s).
